Glaucoma diagnostics

Glaucoma is the loss of optic nerve fibers, which can ultimately lead to a restriction of the visual field and, in advanced stages, even to general blindness.

You need to be careful with glaucoma - as this disease has no symptoms for a very long time and is painless, many sufferers only visit an ophthalmologist when the disease is already very advanced. Once the damage has occurred, it cannot be reversed.

Only an ophthalmologist can recognize the disease at an early stage and take preventive measures.

How can glaucoma be treated?

Excessive eye pressure can lead to an increased loss of optic nerve fibers.
The only demonstrably sensible measure is to reduce eye pressure - this requires close contact and regular check-ups with an ophthalmologist. At our eye center, we are happy to carry out appropriate preventive examinations (eye pressure checks, visual field, examination of the chamber angle, optical coherence tomography) and, if necessary, recommend eye pressure-lowering therapies. We can lower your eye pressure using laser therapies and eye drops. However, should surgery be necessary, we will be happy to organize this for you.

How can glaucoma be prevented?

We can significantly reduce the risk of glaucoma through regular preliminary examinations, which include eye pressure measurement and other examinations. Only an ophthalmologist can make an early diagnosis and take therapeutic measures to prevent a massive impairment of quality of life in good time.
